Using the ACN Forum

For a number of years, the Allen Cognitive Network website has had a forum to allow members to network and communicate with each other and to post questions and information of interest. Over the past few years, there has been a concerted effort to update the website and to improve the ability of the forum to meet the need of members. We are glad to say that due to the valiant efforts of our website committee, this important tool is now ready to be used. We hope that it will be a vehicle that will help you answer questions, improve your skills, and network with others with the same vision of improving the lives of individuals with cognitive disability and their caregivers.

Here are the directions to access the Forum—both for ACN members, as well as for the public:

 1.     Go towww.allen-cognitive-network.org

 2.     Go to the top right corner of the screen and click on Forum- this will direct you to the log in page for your User Account or to create an account.

 3.     On the log in page,

       a.     If you have an ACN User Accountenter your user name and password. This will be the same for the Forum, unless you changed your Forum username and/or password in the Forum registration area since creating your ACN User Account. (Please note: Your password for the FORUM must have at least 6 characters.) If possible, please do not change your user name or password for the forum as this will add an additional step to logging on every time you access the forum.

       b.      If you do not have an ACN User Account, you will need to create a Guest User Account. As a guest, you will only be able to access the public area of the website and Forum, not the members’ area.

       c.     If you cannot remember your username and password for your ACN user account or for the Forum, please contactThis email address is being protected from spambots.  5.     Click on the upper right hand corner of the screen where it says 'Forum'.

 6.     Click on the button for 'Access Forumin the middle of the next screen. NOTE: If you change your username or password for the Forum, you will no longer have automatic access to the Forum through this page. Instead, you will have to manually log in when leaving this page.

 7.     Click on the logo in the left corner and you should see a ‘Public Access’ heading with: ‘Registration for ACN members and Frequently Asked Questions.’ If you are a member you will also see the ‘Members' Online Community’.

 8.     To participate in the Forumclick on the topic that interests you, click on ‘new topic’ or, if you want to participate in a thread, click on the topic to which you want to contribute and click 'post reply'.

 9.     Before you post, look below the writing space to specify options or to add attachments.

We hope that this ACN Forum will be a great member benefit as we begin anew to use it to network and share information, questions and support with each otheracross many disciplines and countries. As a member, you receive access to various topic areas including dementia, mental health, continuing education, and maintenance programs. Other members can use this space to pose questions, start discussions and network.
